Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently demonstrated exceptional ability and dedication, achieving top ten rankings in university-level Core Clerkships. I was honored to be selected for a competitive Clinical Clerkship at Houston Methodist Hospital, a testament to my academic excellence and commitment.
My approach to medicine is holistic, blending technical proficiency with essential interpersonal skills. My friendly demeanor and strong people skills enable me to effectively navigate patient care and team dynamics, fostering a supportive healthcare environment.
Beyond personal accolades, my aspirations in medicine are rooted in a genuine passion for the discipline and the joy of using science and problem-solving to better lives. I am committed to contributing positively to society, alleviating suffering, and engaging in meaningful community service.
During my medical education, I actively participated in core clinical rotations, gaining hands-on experience in various medical specialties and refining essential clinical skills. Under supervision, I engaged in direct patient care, including history-taking, physical examinations, communication with patients and families, and formulation of management plans. I collaborated with healthcare teams, learned from diverse patient cases, and prioritized professionalism, ethics, and patient advocacy. Seeking feedback from supervisors, I continuously developed my skills and knowledge.
Project focused on development of health campaigns addressing main issues and needs of communities surrounding our city, aiming to educate and prevent diseases. Topics covered include "How to Maintain a Balanced Diet with the Mexican Basic Food Basket," "First Aid," "Poisoning: Identification and Steps to Safeguard Life," "Treatment of Heat Stroke," and "Food Safety for the Prevention of Infectious Gastrointestinal Diseases."
Protecting Smiles is a health-focused project aimed at providing primary care to children from various foster homes around our city. Over the course of a week, we dedicate each day to visiting a different foster home to conduct comprehensive medical check-ups for all resident children. These check-ups include dental evaluations, nutritional assessments, and vaccinations. Additionally, psychological evaluations are performed using the HEADSS assessment guide to assess the children's emotional well-being. Finally, we offer recommendations to the various foster homes on how they can implement improvements in child care.
