Accomplishments

  • My students and I won an Eco Challenge State Competition for 10,000 dollars by collecting data from our own research and testing lab procedures for 11 consecutive years traveling in field trips about the Salton Sea Pollution. The data focused on the water quality for Nitrogen and Phosphorus concentrations. It was published on Imperial Valley Press on February 27, 2020.
  • Named "Teacher of the Year" at Holtville High School in 2008.
  • I founded a Science Environmental Science Club called S.T.E.P.S. on 2008 which remained active until I retired on 2025 and member students from my classes would participate on green projects by recycling plastic bottles into plant pots where soil and plants were added to give as gifts to staff, teachers, administrators, family and community members on Earth's Day. Also on December students would build toys from recycled plastic to take as gifts to children.
  • My students throughout the years I worked at HHS would also compete on County and San Diego Science Fair competitions winning multiple 1st, 2nd and 3rd places prices on different Science categories
  • Data Organization - Organized scores of over 80 students into online database for parents' immediate access.
  • I belong to the Leadership Team at Holtville High School throughout most of my years working as a Science teacher
  • I also participated as a mentor for several years on Yellow Ribbon club and Campus Life besides my own Environmental Science Club
