Technical details:

  • FOL is a Güdel's standard system that GM required to be translated from Beckhoff to Allen-Bradley for PLC. HMI was required to be Siemens (TIA portal 14.1)
  • Performed I/O check, participated to motor tuning, safety logic and standard PLC code review. Red marked wire diagrams. Achieved IAT in Novi, MI.

Technical details:

  • In September 2020, provide support to Actemium Mechatronics Konstanz Germany. Task is to give full support to G&D Munich and G&D Currency Automation Systems Shenzhen (China). Final client is BBK (Deutsche Bundesbank). Scope of work is for their brand new cash center in Dortmund; a conveyor system that transports bundles of banknotes.
  • As per our diagnostics during last SAT, improvements needed to be done on the redundancy side for the PLC code (ControlLogix) and on the DeviceNet physical layer (Can-Bus Tester 2 from GEMAC was used), cabling was replaced and terminators added.
  • In-house migration to Eplan Electric P8 for all electrical documentation. Create new structure of the Notapack20 system into Eplan. This involved mapping the already build machine in China, start with the electrical diagrams, creating dynamic objects that were not available in Data Portal, creating macros and templates, etc, in such a way that the Chinese team and further Actemium engineers were able to continue on this documentation effort.
  • Work was done in Shenzhen, Dortmund and Morelia.

Technical details:

The system NP20 is a secured conveyor system from G&D with an automatic sealing and shrinking unit that transports bundles of banknotes from counting machines (BPS) to a sorting/filling area and furthermore to a storage area. When a disturbance arises, the prototype Vertical Buffer System (VBS) allows the flow of banknotes bundles to be routed to its storage levels so that the production is not interrupted. Later on, it must restore the bundles into the normal production flow.

My activities with G&D client involved:

1- After China, to continue with SAT in Germany and to help G&D with technical aspects of highly demanding requirements from Central Bank of Germany

2- To continue with direct client contact and technical leader activities

3- To design, implement and test HMI for the Vertical Buffer System

4- PLC code test and new requirements implementation as well as bugs fixing

5- Technical documentation

6- To train Service Engineers

5- Revision and improvements of the electrical/sensors/drive aspects

6- To prepare the SAT and to help the client with the technical aspects of the highly demanding requirements from the Central Bank of Germany.

  • Responsible for design and implementation of custom made industrial automation products. Those solutions require R&D and integration from several engineering fields. Mainly solutions for dredging companies (outside Mexico) and foundries (North Mexico).

Details:

1-To design and to manufacture a marine grade keyboard emulator for a cutter suction dredge. Solved the need to send USB keyboard command strings to a dedicated software without a USB keyboard (due to swell and space) by pushing buttons from the captain's desk. This is an FPGA based device, the project includes PCB design and manufacture, writing FPGA firmware, visual software for device configuration. Multilingual and international project. Dredging industry.

2-To design and to implement maintenance software for American dredges based on the European model. Solved the need to automate measurements, avoid calculation errors, generate and provide an electronic daily report and send it from the dredge to the main office. Dredging industry.

3-To design and to manufacture custom made LED displays for DISA moulding equipment. Solved the need to display production data like Moulds Cycle Time or Moulds per hour. The LED panel includes Ethernet capability, configuration software and firmware to communicate with PLC and extract the required Tags to be displayed. An app was also developed in order to display production data on Iphones. Foundries solution.

4-Engineering design for a vibrating conveyor sensor. Solved the need to constantly monitor the vibrating conveyor stroke and input the value to a control PLC. Includes all the mathematics to extract stroke from acceleration sensors and take into account the temperature compensation. Includes glue electronics, firmware and software and PCB manufacture. Foundries solution.

5-Engineering and implementation for a grinding station sensor. Solved the need to monitor the tangential velocity in order to stay within the optimal wheel range and avoid stopping the line every 3 hours for manual measurement. Includes PCB manufacture, firmware and electronics. Foundries solution.

6-Project Manager. Electrical and automation projects for foundries. Includes engineering planning and execution for international clients. Develop tight schedules, work under pressure and accurate time estimating. Team leader for 12 electrical workers and 4 electronics engineers. Several projects for Novocast in Monterrey and Real Alloy in Monclova. Developing a budget and documentation for the client.

Accomplishments


  • Wrote a Wireshark dissector in LUA for Ethernet/IP payload debugging between Güdel's Front Of Line system and VisionApp from Mipec AG. Significantly improved telegrams debugging for commissioning.
  • Wrote Python (pishark) code to visualize normal distribution of the VisionApp correction parameters during blanks production
  • Acquired GM standard certification (GCCH, GCCS, Ethernet/IP, MPS) and made extensive use of GCCH during Güdel's FOL installation as well as GCCS during FOL development/commissioning phase.
  • Implemented pallet pin detection function in Güdel's FOL in GM Wentzville line A. Wrote and tested PLC code, added and tested HMI functionality (recipe based, sensors overviews, prompts and alarms). As per GCCS.
  • Trained junior engineers to the commissioning lores.
