  • Responsibilities included, among others, general management of the organization, fundraising, project management, writing grants proposals, public relations, relations with Local, State, and Federal Governments, and public relations with other NGOs, academia, and the private sector; transparency and accountability; land, water, and biodiversity conservation projects; water and sanitation in poor rural communities; reforestation; development of a local environmental services payment scheme; productive projects for a transition towards sustainability; watershed management. Environment monitoring and, also, human resources management.
  • 2600 families were provided with basic infrastructure including rain harvesting devices, dry toilets and improved wood stoves to reduce deforestation and greenhouse emissions. VBBF was able to sell carbon bonds for this.
  • Represented Valle de Bravo Basin Fund in the finals (15 initiatives) of the Great Kyoto Water Prize in Istanbul, 2009, in the World Water Forum. In 2011, represented VBBF in Iniciativa México, ending among the 25 top finalists of a 57000 initiatives universe.
  • Valle de Bravo Basin is covered by temperate forests. Pine trees and oak trees are common. In the Fund we work with rural communities and forest owners creating new income opportunities for the non-timber products, environmental services, carbon bonds, and rural tourism.
  • As General Manager conducted works and efforts to obtain certification before Carbon Bonds for GHG emissions were reduced. The sale was done in 2017, after 4 years of training and monitoring.

  • Member of the Mexican team in charge of the development and design of biodiversity and climate change proposals for Global Environment Facility (UNO) financial support. Direct participant in GEF granted projects Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve and Three Priority Areas (Chinantla, Los Tuxtlas, and La Montaña) for a total of 23.5 million USD. Also, part of the team that developed the Mexican Biological Corridor and the Biological Conservation in Indigenous Lands in southern Mexico projects.
  • Most of the GEF projects were oriented toward the sustainable use of natural resources in biodiversity hotspots for poverty alleviation.
