Senior leadership role, providing overall supervision and direction of WIEGO’s urban advocacy work in Mexico City, Lima, Accra, Dakar and Delhi
Supervised a multi-disciplinary, multi-generational team of teams – made up of 15 organizers, lawyers, activists, and content experts across five cities and in three languages
Held direct responsibility for supporting the overall development and cohesion of the team, including through coaching, mediation, and facilitation of reflective practice
Oversaw the development and monitoring of programming in support of membership-based organizations (MBOs) of informal workers in five cities to secure rights and protections at work
These programs including training, action research, strategic communications, and advocacy
Managed an annual budget of around 1 million, raised more than 3.5 million in new grant funding
Sustained positive, collaborative relationships with key donors, including the Hewlett Foundation
Represented Focal Cities work on WIEGO senior leadership team and in board meetings, providing input into high-level decisions around strategy, fundraising and human resources
Developed specialized focus in working with teams on strategy – introducing new tools and facilitating annual in-person learning exchanges to continually refine and strengthen advocacy
Supported Focal Cities team with long-term strategic planning, overseeing the development of two five-year plans
Synthesized highly detailed inputs from local teams into accessible written outputs that clearly communicated outcomes and learning from Focal Cities’ urban advocacy work, for a range of audiences including WIEGO team, donors and external partners
During the COVID-19 crisis, played a leadership role on WIEGO’s global study assessing the impact of the crisis on informal workers in 12 cities
This included supporting the design of qual and quant research tools and training teams on their use, data analysis, report-writing and dissemination
Regularly published academic and practitioner-oriented outputs on the informal economy.
