  • Issue all required documentation in order that vessels could arrive and depart smoothly from the port - As the vessel's representative in Mexico, I was in charge of collecting appropriate documentation from the vessel's captains via email, being in contact with Authorities such as; Harbor Master (SCT), Immigration authority (INM), Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), Secretary of Agriculture Livestock Rural Development Fisheries and Agriculture (SAGARPA), Mexican Customs (belonging to the SAT) , Secretariat of the Navy and Customs of Mexico (SEMAR) and Port Administration (API)


  • Intermediary between the Authorities and the boat (boarding agent) - As Vessel the representative in Mexico, I was in charge to review, once the vessel was fasten and docked, of being an intermediary between the vessel and the Mexican authorities, guaranteeing good cooperation between all parties, verifying that the vessel complied with all the requirements requested by the authority. and verifying that the corresponding Authority carries out its inspections correctly


  • Intermediary between the Vessel and Port Service Providers -As a representative of the Shipping Line
    (We represented Maersk Line) I was in charge of requesting,
    delivering and coordinating payments between service providers. Service providers such as:
    National Union of Harbor Pilots, Tugboat Service
    (chosen by the shipping line), Port Mooring Service
    (chosen by the shipping line). In this way guaranteeing the correct arrival, Docking, Undocking and Departure of the vessel towards its next destination.


  • Intermediary Between Port Terminal and the Vessel - As a Shipping Line representative on Port, my duty was to verify that tvessel operations (charge, discharge and restows) were performed according to stipulated times based on the resources assigned by the terminal and routing schedule.


  • Report Vessel operations Status to the Shipping Line - As their port agent I was in charge of reporting the status of the operations to the shipping line as well as any eventuality that may arise. Taking care that the goals and times for operations completion were correctly achieved.


  • Deliver all the requirements that vessel may have - As their port agent I was in charge of delivering to the vessel anything it may require or coordinate its correct delivery. Simple things such as getting internet service while they are docked on port, as well as things with more requirements such as coordinating the delivery of provisions or fresh water supplying,more complicated things such as cleaning the hull or repairing a component in their machinery (these issues were already coordinated in cooperation with the corresponding authority).


  • Coordinate cargo inspection in case of authority request -In case that authority requested inspection for certain cargo, we coordinated with it and the designated terminal chosen to carry out this inspection, keeping Customer Service informed about the requirement and status of inspection.
