Summary

As an oceanologist and marine science professional, I have a natural interest and curiosity to learn and understand the phenomena that occur in this exciting environment, im always interested in learn new knowledge for a better contribute to the development of a promising future for the health of our seas and oceans, and ultimately, with my purposes and aspirations. My main area of interest focuses on physical-biological aspects. Within my professional area I have participated in multiple oceanographic cruises and actively participating in the four areas of study of oceanography within them, I have been instructed in workshops on wave modeling and installation of oceanographic radars and work on databases, I have worked in the preparation of bathymetries in different port areas of Mexico, I have been in charge of environmental supervision in port dredging maneuvers and I have worked as a laboratory technician in the area of marine pollution.

Work History

HYDROGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN

HYPSO OCEANOGRAFÍA INTEGRAL, S.C
ENSENADA
11.2019 - 03.2022
  • The bathymetry work in the Bay of Todos Santos was necessary to carry out bathymetric charts in the area of the Bajo de San Miguel in the Bay of Todos Santos and this was necessary to gain an in-depth knowledge of the study area and its oceanic dynamics
  • For the strategic position of tidal power generators as stipulated by the dependency to which the company Hypso Oceanografía Integral provides services
  • The bathymetry work in the Port of Guaymas was for the realization of a bathymetric map of the entire port area, it was necessary to carry out strategic dredging to avoid the running aground of merchant ships, and to carry out the adequate maintenance of the port area
  • The last bathymetry work carried out was to corroborate the progress of the dredging in the Port of Sauzal and the Port of Ensenada, both of the City of Ensenada Baja California, and these works were complemented by quality, hygiene and environmental impact supervision.
  • In my last contract (October 2022) i was in charge of the previous studies for the future ports expansions of Ensenada, the work consisted of carrying out transit studies and ecological monitoring.

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

MARINE SCIENCES FACULTY
Ensenada
06.2021 - 12.2021
  • During my work as laboratory technician I carried out photosynthetic pigment concentration analysis in water samples from more than 70 stations in depths less than 20 m, monitoring physicochemical parameters in Todos Santos Bay, Ensenada BC, and San Luis Gonzága Bay, Baja California Sur.
  • I used Genway UV/VIS spectrophotometer equipment to analyze the different wavelengths from which the concentration of the pigments to be identified (a, b, carotenoids) is found. Photosynthetic pigment analysis serves as an indirect measure of biomass (primary productivity), allowing us to scale food availability for higher organisms
  • I analyzed the concentration of trace metals (Al, Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb and Zn) in more than 120 sediment samples from Todos Santos Bay, Baja California and San Luis Gonzága Bay, BCS, associated with three oceanographic campaigns
  • I used a Polarograph to analyze the samples, the technique used is anodic voltammetry
  • The chlorophyll and trace metal values help us to have an idea of the availability of microorganisms (primary productivity) and therefore allows us to associate them with the growth of bivalves, fish, and micro-organs
  • I analyzed metals in water samples from sardine fishing in Todos Santos Bay, which will contribute to the evaluation of the contribution of metals derived from this activity
  • The information generated contributed to the preparation of technical reports that will be delivered to the oyster farming and coastal fishing community in the vicinity of BC and BCS, through PROESTEROS and SEMAR
  • In addition to developing the database obtained in the Excel program
  • I prepared the material used in the field to obtain samples
  • In addition, I collaborated in the logistics related to the dissemination of the results of the analysis of samples presented by colleagues from the SSP, within the National Congress of Oceanography
  • Finally, I supported the training of new students in the SSP program in the use of the Polarograph
  • During my work I relied on the laboratory manuals of Chemical Oceanography, Marine Pollution and the guide of the person in charge of the, to carry out my activities.
