- I was responsible of the tax compliance and tax reporting of 3 companies in Best Buy Mexico. I also was responsible of tax operations configuring Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Excise Tax (IEPS) codes for Mexico in SAP using the VERTEX engine, including compliance with local tax regulations for more than 3,000 SKUs across various product categories, including consumer electronics, high caloric products, insurance policies of extension warranty, prepaid phone cards, digital platforms, and video game gift cards. I collaborated closely with IT and Finance to validate product classifications and ensure correct tax payments in accordance with Mexican tax laws and, I supported ongoing maintenance and testing of SAP-VERTEX tax configurations to adapt to changes in legislation and product offerings, reducing audit risks and improving reporting accuracy.
- I Collaborated with the IT team in optimizing the electronic invoicing process for customers, reducing the average issuance time from 15 minutes to real-time, including integration with the e-commerce platform. My role involved validating that e-invoices complied with the requirements of Annex 20 of the Miscellaneous Tax Resolution, and participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure correct issuance
- Achievements: I stablish a solid process for VAT, eliminating potential risks for setting up products at SAP wrongly. Also, I improved customer satisfaction scores by overhauling customer service protocols and training staff in customer engagement technique for e-invoicing. Finally, I led the successful negotiation of the 2011 tax audit with SAT, achieving the acceptance of MXN $250 million in deductions that had initially been challenged by the authority.

(5) I managed tax audits of income tax and VAT opened by Tax Administration of fiscal years 2008 to 2012.
- Achievements: (1) I successfully led the implementation of electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) in accordance with local tax regulations. Oversaw end to end project management, including regulatory analysis, system integration with ERP platforms, coordinated with IT, Customer center, Finance and Legal departments. (2) Also, I successfully managed the implementation of the 2015 VAT reform, which included a 1% increase in the standard VAT rate mandated by tax authorities. Led cross-functional efforts to update billing systems, adjust accounting procedures, and ensure compliance across all operations. Delivered the project on time with zero compliance issues, safeguarding the company from tax penalties and maintaining operational continuity. (3) Successfully managed tax audits initiated by the Mexican tax authorities (SAT) for fiscal years 2008 to 2012. The audits focused on income tax and value-added tax (VAT) compliance. Led the defense strategy, coordinated the preparation of supporting documentation, and collaborated closely with internal stakeholders. The audits concluded with no findings or adjustments, confirming the accuracy of tax calculations and the strength of the company’s tax compliance processes.
