Barista
At my job as a barista, I had several tasks to perform. For example, we had the espresso machine and the blenders, and the workstation was divided into two areas. When I was assigned to the barista station, I spent my time pulling espresso shots and making hot coffee with latte art. But when I was in the cold drinks area, I prepared everything that involved drinks on the rocks, smoothies, frappes, sodas, etc. On the days I worked in the cold drinks area, I was also the cashier, so I was responsible for cash register closures and openings. My position was the one right after the manager. On days when my manager was off for breaks or personal reasons, I had to take on that role. On weekends, I carried the café keys and on some days I opened or closed the store. I also worked a lot with customer service. It was a business where everyone had to do a little bit of everything. So sometimes I would wait tables or take orders from customers for whatever they wanted, or at the same time help them decide what to choose. I answered the drive-thru, made whipped cream and whatever else was missing during the shift. I organized the incoming orders, and at the end of my day, I would close and clean my area, whether it was cold or hot drinks. Depending on the day, I would do the cash register closing or close the store.
I couldn’t continue working there because I started university, and the schedules didn’t fit with my classes.
Every summer, I also work as a guide for kids' courses. I take care of them and escort them to their activities around the park so they can complete them. I work with children from ages 3 to 14.
