Mexico City

Summary

In my current role as an Advisor to the Secretary of Education in Mexico City since 2021, I play a key role in shaping the city's approach to sports and education. Before this, from 2018 to 2021, I served as the General Director of the Institute of Sport for Mexico City. While there, I provided leadership in managing sports initiatives and programs, overseeing budgets, developing sports policies, and fostering community engagement. In my current advisory position, I leverage this experience to offer strategic guidance, policy insights, and support for the integration of sports into the education system. My responsibilities encompass the development of sports-related policies, talent nurturing, and advocacy for the broader benefits of sports and physical activity within the educational framework, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more active learning environment for our students and the community. Between November 2016 and December 2018, I held the position of Director of Planning and Academic Development at the General Directorate of University Sports within the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In this role, I managed the Annual University Sports Program and supervised the Institutional Development Plan. Furthermore, I made contributions to sports journalism as a columnist for La Jornada newspaper, writing the column "Juego Limpio" (Fair Play). Simultaneously, I served as the Head of the Sports Psychology Department at UNAM's General Directorate of Sports and Recreational Activities. In this role, I designed and executed comprehensive development programs for coaches and student athletes, covering academic, sports, social, health, and psychological aspects. In addition, I held a concurrent position as a professor of Sport Psychology within UNAM's Graduate programs of Medicine and Nursing. Additionally, I had the privilege of being an adjunct professor in UNESCO's Master's program, "Sport as a Tool for Social Coexistence and Conflict Resolution," in collaboration with the FC Barcelona Foundation. I also provided guidance as a tutor at the High-Performance Sport Center in Barcelona, Spain.
