Accomplishments

Accomplishments

Throughout my 10 years as the executive director of Consejo Cívico, the main achievements of the NGO I conducted were:

A growth of the budget through funding strategies of 100% in 5 years.

The development of two new strategic areas to achieve the organization's mission:

1/ Cómo Vamos Nuevo León, an accountability platform for Local and State governments, with a large social involvement: over 80 experts for academia and civil society participate in the design and implementation of evaluations of the governments' results, and organize several times a year dialogues between governments and civil society to account for those results. This initiative has won several awards over the years;

  • International Development Bank (IDB): First place award in 2017 for Results Management in Latin America.
  • Coneval (Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social) Best Practice for Monitoring and Evaluation in 2019.
  • INAI (Instituto Nacional de Transparencia, Acceso a la Información y Protección de Datos Personales) First Place in the Open Government Practice in Mexico in 2020.
  • Aceval (Academia Nacional de Evaluadores de México) Award for innovative practice in Monitoring and Evaluation of the SDGs in 2020.

2/ yCo, Center for Strenghtening of CSO in Nuevo León: the first initiative in Nuevo León focusing on organizational strenghtening of local CSOs, their leadership and providing back office services.

3/ Founded several citizens networks and collectives, both at local and national scale:

  • Founding member of UNIDOSC in 2016, a national colletive to defend the rights of organized civil society in Mexico.
  • Founding and coordination of the Anticorruption Coalition of Nuevo León, a collective to advocate for and follow through the correct implementation of the state anticorruption reforms.
  • Founding member of Manifiesta tu Ciudadanía, a national collective to defend Civic Space in Mexico.

Throughout the years, the NGO has been able to secure funds for its activities of organizations such as Open Society Foundations, USAID, GIZ.

We also obtained the highest results in transparency and good management practices from national evaluators (CEMEFI, CONFÍO), and obtained the 2 most important national awards in Mexico for CSOs:

The COMPARTIR award in 2019 for our work in public advocacy.

The RAZÓN DE SER award in 2022 for the institutional consolidation of the CSO.
