AI-Powered Mexican Sign Language Interpreter, Oct 2024 - Dec  2024

Built an image classification model to recognize the Mexican Sign Language (LSM) alphabet using computer vision techniques. For this project we used Google's MediaPipe for precise hand detection and segmentation, and implemented a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in PyTorch, applying data augmentation and transfer learning to enhance performance. We obtained an 87% accuracy on a test dataset and deployed the model in a real-time demo environment, enabling live letter prediction from webcam input.

Disaster Response Web Platform – Hurricane Otis Crisis, Sep 2024 - Oct 2024
