Accomplishments

  • Building a HR team and function from scratch to support the business in EMEA. Previously there was no dedicated resources for HR, I built a business case for a team; hired the team; trained and developed the team; 2 members were promoted within 6 months of starting. Continued ongoing development is priority in the form of Individual development plans, on the job training, coaching, external mentors, regular one to ones to monitor development in addition to operational monthly one to ones. There has been 0% attrition in the HR team for the last 2 years and a highly engaged team that strive to bring their best selves to work.
  • Completed removal of litigation risk of 16 cases across Europe resulting in no legal action being taken and cost of compensation paid out producing a reduction in costs.
  • TUPE transferring over 2000 people across UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and Poland resulting in no ER issues or litigation risk.
  • Managing redundancies on a large scale (200 people) in Australia having no knowledge of Australian Labor law. Leaning on an internal legal team for legal guidance and applying HR common sense. No litigation or complaints were brought forward and the process was a success.
  • Growing the EMEA region from 83 employees across 3 countries to 250+ employees across 16 countries. Learning employment law in each country as we grew was challenging but rewarding. No Employment Tribunal cases lost during my tenure. Attrition reduced from 58% to 18% after reviewing exit interview data and employee survey results. Mobilised teams across 34 countries EMEA, India and APAC, to home working once COVID took hold. Supporting people through the change impact on them individually. Reducing headcount as a result of Covid, in a globally synchronised communication and action plane, across various time zones and cultures. This effected 2000 people across EMEA, India and APAC in some way or another.
  • Taking the plunge to go self employed to enable me to explore the opportunity to help more people with disabilities be ensure an equal footing in life to those without a disability. After setting up Accessible Dacorum, it became apparent that Government, local business and charities were craving someone to look at the challenges people with disabilities face from a holistic perspective. The results spoke for themselves, 83% of people that were supported through this programme were given the opportunity to meaningful, paid employment. I was asked to roll out the programme nationally and to kick off the process, I presented to 200 MP’s from all over the country to get their involvement. The Accessible Dacorum project, with some refining was later called the Disability Confidence Campaign.
  • Acted as lead support for a full restructure of the organisations. Carried out job evaluation for 183 roles; streamlined the work; restructured with a target of 150 headcount reduction; partnered with the union to reduce costs and headcount terms with the union at national level; managed TUPE transfers; developed and implemented communication strategy; carried out a desk assessment identifying the strongest candidates for each role; lead the voluntary redundancy process in conjunction with the unions. Outcome was that all 150 heads were removed from template; arranged voluntary redundancies and redeployment; re training and reformed the new team, within deadlines, within budget and minimal ER issues.
