Born and raised in Jerusalem, Egyptian origin Sammy Samir is a humanist, coach, psycho-mystic remediator, mentor, master teacher, researcher, interpreter, actor, director, poet, and writer. His childhood and youth were formed in an extremely conflict-dominated environment. Because of this ongoing existential strain on his sense of belonging and the question of identity, he was forced to confront, he became the strength he is today. The multiple geo-political layers of conflict – race, nationality, creed was the setting Sammy came of age in, none of which he could reconcile through conformism or dogmatic thinking. Naturally and sincerely he was drawn towards the mystical path, which forms the base for his spiritual practices and inquiry.

Wrote his first book The Sun of Faith; a philosophic testimonial book written out of a need to commemorate the loss of his son. The Sun Of Faith maintains a dramatic structure that deals with the question of identity and the revitalization of faith, losing a loved person to death, and the different ways of dealing with it. Expressed through contemplative prose and poetry. He dedicated the book to his father by using nom de plum Iben Iben el Riff, which in Arabic stands for "the son of the son of the farmland", as a tribute to his father Nabih Muhyiddin Sarhan known by the people as Iben el Riff, which in Arabic stands for "the son of the farmland".
Founded the Research Art Project – a trans-disciplinary alternative active studio for actors in Mexico. Founded the Center for Transformative Education El Alambique based in Mexico City, responding to the need of local artists for wider references in relation to the profession of acting, placing an emphasis on the process of transformation, transmutation of energy and of conduct, and behaving of the participant.
